The LIFE CONTRA Ailanthus project has received funding from the LIFE Programme of the European Union.
The LIFE program is the funding instrument of the European Union devoted exclusively to the environment and climate. The general objective of the program is to contribute to the implementation, updating, and development of EU environmental and climate policy and legislation. It has a special focus on the protection of habitats, and on the projects that will contribute to the implementation of the objectives of the Birds and Habitats Directive.
In LIFE CONTRA Ailanthus we aim to implement directly the EU environmental legislation, in particular, the EU Invasive Alien Species regulation and Habitat directive, through improving the conservation status of protected habitat types significant at the EU level and thorough eradication of species from the list of invasive alien species of Union concern. The co-financing from EU for LIFE CONTRA Ailanthus is €1,555,161.00, which is 60% of the total project’s budget.
The Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency Fund (EPEEF) is the central institution for investing extra-budgetary resources in the programs and projects of environmental and nature protection, energy efficiency and use of renewable energy sources. The co-financing from the Fund for LIFE CONTRA Ailanthus is €352.145.
